Dear Pickerington Area Residents:
Brian Wisniewski and I attended the Ohio EPA hearing this evening at the Pickerington City Hall for the final Permit to Install for the Pickerington Sewer plant expansion.
I would ask that those citizens that have concerns about the future growth of this city that you write the Ohio EPA and ask them to delay this project until the newly elected government can have an opportunity to review some of the many issues that were raised this evening.
The current effective rate of flow is 1.2 MGD and the city has applied to increase that flow rate to 3.5 MGD. That almost triples the size of this plant. This will rquire 4000 more homes to be built just to pay for the project.
The Ohio EPA is concened about duplication of services. Clearly the speakers this evening outlined a number of issues where Pickerington had water and sewer lines on one side of the road and the county had lines on there other side of the road. This is nothing but wasted tax dollars or should I say user fees from anyone that is connected to the sewer plant.
If this concerns you please let the Ohio EPA know how you feel. Please give us some time to sort this mess out once we do get into office.
Their address is:
Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Division of Surface Water, Permits Processing Unit, 122 South Front Street, P.O. Box 1043, Columbus, OH 43216-1049. Letters must be received by November 12, 2003 to be considered.
I also want to thank the voters of Pickerington that sent us a strong mandate yesterday. You now need to send the Ohio EPA that same message. Please have them delay the project and the PTI for 6 months to give the newly council members and the mayor time to study all of the issues before them.
Thank you
