I am glad too
Things have changed a bunch. Too bad you are focused on the negative. Here are some things that have changed: Growth has been slowed. Pickerington is on track to have one of the lowest building permit issuance years in recent memory. Impact fees are now a reality. This council did what they said they would and have passed impact fees on development out of committee and sent them to council. Now new growth will have to pay for itself. Growth management is now a reality. With the numbers developed in the impact fee study, the city can now set in place a growth management protocol that will culminate in and actual number of homes per year that can be sustained. There is still catching up to do from the old days, but the future is getting brighter. For the first time since dinosaurs roamed the earth, the schools will have accurate numbers to forecast student growth. Ethical government has been returned to Pickerington. The majority of council has behaved ethically and morally throughout their terms. We haven?’t seen this kind of behavior for over a decade. Responsive government has been returned to Pickerington. The format of the community comments section of council meetings is now interactive instead of dictatorial. New residential design standards are working through committees that will demand quality construction in the city. No more cardboard cracker boxes that have major structural issues within the first 3 years of being built. New commercial design standards are being developed that will also assure quality design and construction of all our commercial development. The city has adopted a debt management policy. No longer will we have the reckless borrowing that has resulted in the high debt this council inherited. The city has new legal representation. Gone are the days of the good ol?’ country barrister and drug addicted arsonists representing they city?’s interests. They now have one of the premier firms in the Midwest on board. For the first time in over a decade, real estate transactions will not result in millions of dollars in settlements and litigation fees. Preparations for roadway improvements are now in the works to occur before, or as they are needed rather than long after. Roadways, traffic lights, access points and all are now looked at from a higher perspective coordinating with the township and ODOT and not catering to the whims of developers. So Glad ?– So Sad, want more? Aw never mind. You?’re glad you left and I am glad I stayed. These are exciting times ahead and I look forward to seeing this all come together. Too bad you won?’t be here to vote for council this fall to keep this progress alive. I have heard the names of 4 candidates, including an incumbent, who are on board with what this council and mayor are doing. Two were in the Violet Festival parade. O?’Brien and Kramer are leading candidates to see these plans through. There are two more that I have heard of but I don?’t know if they have gone public yet. There is a woman and a military type that may join the race. I look forward to doing something I never considered before. I am going to get out there and work these campaigns. I?’ll walk and I?’ll knock on doors. I?’ll put up signs and I?’ll make phone calls. What an exciting time this is. I want to be a part of it. I want to make a difference! |

Paradise coming to Sycamore
I can fully understand why someone living away from this area and one of your only ways to visit Pickerington is through this web site. Please keep in mind the PATA web site has a new WEB MASTER. The new web master controls ALL Communications coming and going from the site. Gone are the days of posting public records that show corruption and incompetence from our leaders. I also think you missed the ordinance passed by city council outlawing corruption and incompetence. Buddy you need to do ?“YOUR HOMEWORK?” before you try to post here. Let me tell you the ?“REST OF THE STORY?”. The community has been battling issues with growth for years now. In an unprecedented move of cooperation The Pickerington City Council and The Violet Township trustees have agreed to apply to the Army Corps of Engineers for a water control grant to build a moat around the entire community. The moat will get its feeder water from the Blacklick Creek to the north, the Sycamore creek to the east and the little Walnut Creek to the south. The moat will be wide enough to require bridges to cross it. Taking advantage of this future limited access we will only allow vehicles that weigh less than 3,567 lbs to cross five of the planned six bridges. The sixth bridge will allow larger vehicles like those big SUV and trucks carrying building supplies. Both types of vehicles will be charged stiff tolls to enter and exit Pickerington. This will help preserve Diley road to last another 17 years like the moron Sabatino predicts. With the full cooperation of the Army Corp of Engineers this project could be completed by late 2007. That would be just in time for the 2008 Violet Festival and the 200th year anniversary of Violet Township. However the Township in preparation for sharing the costs of the Festival hired a professional Festival Prognosticator for $57.37. After a couple of quick visits to last week?’s Violet Festival he pointed out to the trustees that there were no violets on display at this VIOLET FESTIVAL. When he presented his findings to the Trustees they responded with SO!!!. The trustees then debated why there are no violets in the middle of July in Violet Township and if they want to spend the extra $12.43 for their prognosticator to find out why. Apparently a concerned senior citizen made a public service phone call to one of the trustees to inform them that Violets only bloom here in VIOLET TOWNSHIP in the spring this saving the township that $12.43. Like I always say ?“a penny saved is a penny earned?” or was that Terry Dunlap. Then with this new information it was determined that Violets need spring like temperatures and plenty of rain. Since the temperatures this July have been in the nineties and very little rain fall the Township Trustees have again formed a new alliance with the City to apply to the Ohio EPA to control the climate with a biosphere over the entire township area. The only openings to this sphere will be at the six bridges. By Tiny Tim |

Working out the kinks
Then the OHIO EPA points out the residents will probably die because of a lack of oxygen and high levels of carbon monoxide. OK now every body will need those hybrid cars that run on both gas and electric. Since the community will have limited access and they need to find ways to pay for the needed infrastructure I think a joint project with ODOT and MORPC to dig out I-70 from the Franklin County line over to the Licking County Line. The city council then will reduce the speed limit in the ?“tunnel?” to 50 MPH. They will leave the old sign post with no speed limit posted there for show and probably bring a few hundred speeders in each day. If the council charges $99 for a speeding ticket then the gross profit per day should be around $29,700. That will increase the city?’s budget from around $3.5 million to close to $14 million per year. We?’ll probably need some more cops. I wonder what the cops fired from New Rome are doing? We can now chuck the Facilities Review Committee report for new buildings because there will be no rain except between the hours of Midnight until 6 AM. We simply teach school outside. The city tree commission will reduce its approved tree list down to one and that would be the Palm Tree. In 2008 the community will officially change its name to Pickingviolets complete with a web site. Violets will be every where. The farmers still left in the area will convert to organic farming. For those that live outside our borders now you will have very little notice of this change until it actually happens. This site will go dark and to get in to our newly created paradise will require a valid thumb print or an iris scan. Those wanting a temporary entry pass may purchase one. With nothing more to do expect Mark Uher will be selling tee shirts at Myrtle Beach in 2008. It will be euphoria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By Tiny Tim |
