i have read with interest the posts that are against the upcoming levy - the dispute about the enrollment numbers - and the perceived disrespect shown between the various leaders.

what i haven't read is who do you think will win and who will lose if the levy is defeated. if you have any doubt that the schools are overcrowded, regardless of mr. stemen's numbers, comments, etc., drive around to the elementary schools and take a look at how many kids are there. if you still doubt the conditions, check out how early and how late the lunch periods go so that all kids have a chance to eat during the day. so if the levy goes down again, do you really think the need will go away, or is it just delayed? do you think the new schools that sooner or later will be built, will cost less three years from now than what they would now?

in the long run, we all know that the schools need the space. if you don't like how the school board is working, why didn't you apply to run for the open seats this year and help the board be steered in the right direction?

it is very easy to sit on the sidelines as many of us do and criticize those that are in the trenches doing the dirty work.

I ask again, if the levy goes down again, who really wins and who really loses, and how do you define winning and losing?

Unfortunately this has gone way beyond winners and losers. No one wins and everyone loses. Are you missing the point? We are sick and tired of being lied to over and over again by the PLSD. They have spent years propogating one lie upon another. They have lost the trust of two-thirds of the district voters obviously.

The time has come for the lies to be acknowledged and stopped. The time has come for someone in the PLSD to work to begin to earn back the trust of the parents and students in this district. The time for change has come.

Get off your high horse about running for the board. You know as we all do that the chance of winning as a write-in at this point in time is futile. You saw how many people are interested in joining the PLSD team - no one. Sanders filed and the others seemed to be guilted into it. Everyone is tired of the lies and realize given the Brink/Reade example, no matter how good your intentions are, the ''machine'' will beat you down until all you can do is hide behind your precious spreadsheets.

You may not be easily able to fire board members for lying but you sure as hell can fire staff for it. Go to split sessions for all I care. Will it affect my family? Absolutely. But we can get through it. We adapt to $3 per gallon gasoline. We adapt to Columbia Gas' threat of up to 70% increases this winter. We can adapt to anything that rinky dink PLSD can throw at us. Thanks to them berating and bullying us for years now, they have toughened us up quite a bit.

I think there is another reason.

So why didn?’t you run for the board before it was to late to file? Next time there is an opening, why don?’t you sign up and be the ?“someone in the PLSD?” that works to earn back the trust? It sounds like you know some facts (?“We are sick and tired of being lied to over and over again by the PLSD. They have spent years propogating one lie upon another?”) ?… put them to use ?– go public ?– prove it ?– do something good for all of us and get the deadwood out.

I think you?’re wrong though about the levy failure. I don?’t think the trust has been lost by two-thirds of the voters, I think that economic reality is hitting home real hard for many of us. Small pay raises, sky high utility, transportation, grocery, education, etc. is wreaking havoc on the family budgets. I believe that the levies have failed, and will fail this time, because of economics alone ?– people just don?’t have the extra money to fund more increases in taxes.

If you have proof of lies and deception, be specific and go public. I think The Distatch, The Times Sun, and This Week newspapers would gladly print your letter to the editor.

Who wins?

Who wins if the levy is passed? Do the kids really win if there are more classrooms? If so, for how long? Will my kids win or my grandkids?

Will those on fixed incomes who helped build this area win when they can no longer afford to live here?

Are more schools just another stop-gap measure and in reality is nothing more than an expensive band-aid?

Maybe, just maybe, we need to think differently about how our schools are configured and how much disparity and resentment really exist in our community.

Canal Winchester may have a much better answer than what we have here in Pickerington.
