  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor
Dear Neighbors, I have moved back to Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades after twenty six years.. All was great, as I moved into 131 Entrada drive, the old Surfrider apartments.. And then, I tried to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. For one year now, almost to the date, the old Friendship has become a horrible and intolerable young persons place to go and scream, puke and leave the place driving drunk. I have called the police, as have my neighbors.. We find vomit, and have to listen to people shouting and yelling from ten PM until as late as three or four in the morning on a regular basis. It has become unacceptable by far. The lack of any control by owners of this new Disco/just loud abomination has continued to frustrate all of us who live facing West Channel, across the creek, to Entrada. That is where we continually listen to bad music, bad customers and bad vibes. I understand that young people have a right to party.. But as far as I can see, no one has a right to keep people up, every night, seven days a week, until at least two thirty in the morning.. I need help in stopping this abomination of the peace and security of all of us living in the Canyon who don't want to be killed by the totally drunken drivers and people that exit from this establisment. Can anyone help me; and all of us that live in this nightmare going on?

I am in absolute agreement. I live across the street from the Hideout on West Channel. It is an absolute abomination of peace and quiet. The Hideout is a nuisance to anyone who wants to have peace and quiet in the Canyon near PCH past 10PM. I have called the police dozens of time, nothing ever happens. I have knowledge that The Hideout is up for liquor license renewal in May. I would like to encourage all of my neighbors to call, write, picket, whatever you like to do, to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission (www.abc.ca.gov). We would love to have the Hideout closed all together. That is not likely, so proposing that they be required to stop serving at midnight is a reasonable proposal. I am tired of being kept up by screaming, fighting people in my street until 3 and 4AM. I am tired of watching people patronize the bar and leave driving drunk. The ownership of The Hideout has made it clear they will not do anything. We can make it clear to them that we WILL do something about the problem. Please, all of our neighbors, help us put a stop to this mess on West Channel and TAKE BACK THE CANYON!!!!
