Reference the Greenshire Gazette article ''Water Pressure Warning'', my water tank was also a victim of the current overpressure condition. Fortunately, I was at home when it happened and the damage was limited to the walls around the water closet, trim, and having to replace the water heater. My point for this message, however, is that I do not agree with the comments of the City Manager and Public Works Manager. The City of Schertz ''Public Works Specifications'' para 7.3.1 states the water pressure should be between 35 and 70 psi under average conditions. It also states pressure over 100 psi should be avoided. The pressure at my house is 105 psi which is well above what it should be. It was not that high when I moved in (1999) and the increase is obviously due to changes made by the city. I believe it is the responsibility of the city to correct THEIR problem and if they can't, they should be the ones to install regulators. It may take the weight of our HOA, or several neighborhood HOAs, as well as a flooding (no pun intended) of individual complaints to the City Manager to get action but it needs to be done. With the current water pressure it is not a matter of if your water heater will be damaged, but when it will be damaged...and if you have a tank on the second floor!!!

Water Pressure Info

I'll ensure GHOA President Bob Pond is aware of your posting. In past discussions with city leaders, I don't recall the city's public works specifications being mentioned, only the state's pressure guidelines. I'm sure it will be helpful that you included the specific paragraph. Since this isn't a covenant issue, I'll leave it to Mr Pond to assign a board member to work with you on follow-up of your information.
