''For Rent'' Signs Worry Me

Posted in: Park Place
I can't be that different from other homeowners in Park Place, and I assume most of us are worried, to some degree, about all the properties that seem to be going up for rent. I know what assuming can do... you know; what it can make out of you and me?

I am always concerned that pride of ownership is out the door when a landlord rents out property. I've often thought, I wish I could tell landlords what I think of them. At the April 6th PPCA meeting I had the chance. A non-resident landlord who has two properties up for rent was present and she has been more officially involved in keeping Park Place a good neighborhood than I have been.

Here I go assuming again, but I'm pretty sure her main agenda is protecting her investment. And as I get older, my main objective is having a safe, pleasant neighborhood to live in. BUT... as I get older, I am becoming even more concerned about protecting my investment... I am counting on my property value to afford that rocking chair I'll be wanting, and maybe even that little motorized cart I'll be needing if they can't get this hip of mine working properly.

Rental properties in my neighborhood worry me, but this landlord and I seem to be working toward at least one mutual objective... protecting our investments. She doesn't know it yet, but I plan to talk to her about her organizing other landlords in Park Place down the road.

My apologies to all of those who are politically correct... admonish me once, and I will call her a landlady!
