Cleaning up the Walking Trail

Again yesterday I walked the length of our walking trail and all the dead trees, tree limbs, damaged asphalt path, and fallen over fence posts are just the same as when I say them 9 years ago! Believe the HOA will not maintain this area except for their limited mowing.

Soon I, for one, will begin cutting up the limbs and trees from the front to the back of the trail and lay them on the walk way. They will be in sizes you can pick one up and carry back to the front as you exit the trail. Just before the beginning of the trail you cross a little bridge which has a huge erosion problem under it. I have begun putting what I take out of the trail area and putting the limbs in there. May be in time we can fill this erosion area with limbs and rocks (from behind the Rec Center, for example) and solve more than one problem of ''maintenance'' for our HOA, Parkwood Maintenance Association.

Help where you can. I will be doing the cutting as time permits and you can carry the limbs out on at a time - and we will clean up our trail the way it should always be!

Thanks to all who help.

Regards,

Mike

Going The Next Step->WildFlowers

A thought. As it appears the grassed areas of our walk trail appear most overgrown, IF we were to translate them into Lady Bird Johnson's idea of things, could we convert our whole walk path area to wild Flowers? That is Texas Style? And we could mix in some others too!

What would it take to do this?
When would be the proper time to do any ground preparation?
What would be the investment in money and labor (our own volunteer labor)?
Maybe the HOA Beautification Committee could fund the purchase of seeds?
Any one with a green thumb out there???

Thanks for the help

Some folks have been thoughtful enough as they used the walk path to pick up a piece of limb here or there and put it into the erosion pit by the little entry bridge to the walk. Thanks, every little bit helps make our walk area better looking.

A Real Help!

Craig ''PB'' Miller has been contributing his time and muscle to moving many of the limbs, etc. along the trail to help make it a better place for us. We should all thank him for his considerate efforts for all of us who notice the improvements he makes.
