Parkwood Neighborhood

Zoom......

Posted in: Parkwood

To often FAST trucks and cars zoom down Autumn Park in the wee hours of the night/morning or times when children are at play!  I am getting very tired of this ritual.  The speed bumps are not a deterrent at all for these drivers.  Can we all rally together to help keep Parkwood a safe neighborhood by telling these people to slow down?  Or else I am going to resort to shooting out their tires!  I doubt I am that good of a shot, but it sounded good to threaten it at least!  If we could work together to keep the streets safe for our young kids to ride their bikes or for runners and walkers to enjoy and not be threatened by a speeding truck or car!  If your street is filled with speeders- please say something to them!  Wink

Trust me, if I knew who they were I would tell them something.  I wish as a neighborhood we could get together and do something about it.  Is it just me, or does it feel that our neighborhood is turning for the worse?

You have the right idea - strike up conversations with your neighbors, invite their ideas, post them here so that we may exchange them and refine them so we can indeed do more than talk or worry about this and other related community issues which are part of the experience here in Parkwood. There is a need for leadership, in small and larger ways, in Parkwood. The HOA should participate and stimulate and support community-related activities, perhaps such as this, but without persistence, and maybe even sufficient caring about seeing success come from our individual and collective efforts. We, the property owners around here, have all the "power" we need to move on these issues - start up the discussions, put forward your ideas, and with some concensus we can "do the right thing" for ourselves, our neighbors..... What can we do to get started?

Autumn Park is not the only street subject to speeders. I witness this on even the narrower streets in Parkwood and it is drivers of all ages. Not too many people even stop at the stop signs while others don't even slow down for them. I keep waiting for the sound of screaming tires and a collision.
