Parkwood Ranch HOA

A BRIEF HISTORY OF HOW WE GOT STARTED.

Our group started out with the proposal of a planning and zoning change by the developer of our master-planned community, Parkwood Ranch. While we were trying to access information about the planning and zoning issues, we had other neighbors make us aware of other factors affecting our neighborhood and were getting asked questions about things like the over-crowding of the area schools, the traffic problems with roads owned by the city and the county and problems with graffitti and increased vandalism, etc. In an effort to try and address some of these concerns, it soon became clear that our neighborhood needed to become registered with the city's outreach program so all the people affected by the explosive growth in this area would be able to have notification of changes in a timely manner. We decided to register such a large area as one group so we could better understand and inform the people we had been dealing with. The area includes the current Patterson Elementary School boundaries and our goal is to have the different neighborhoods and HOA's register their own areas with the city so we can become a clearing-house of information.

The City of Mesa's Neighborhood Out Reach Program has been in invaluable blessing to our group and we strongly suggest neighborhoods contact them with any problems or suggestions. The phone number is: 480-644-4067. They love to hear from you.

New Schools to Open Fall 2001

Several residents in our area have concerns regarding the over-crowding of the elementary and junior-high schools. The latest news we received from the school district was that the new boundaries for Patterson Elementary School were voted on and adopted as: Main Street to US 60 and Signal Butte Road to Crismon Road; then from US60 to Baseline Road and Ellsworth Road to Crismon Road. The rest of the areas not included in these boundaries will be going to Brinton Elementary located on Meridian Road and Southern Avenue. We have been assured by the superintendant that it will be ready by the beginning of the school year in fall of 2001. Smith Junior High School will also be ready by this fall. We have not located the boundaries for this school, but hope to update the information as soon as possible. If you have questions call Mesa Public Schools at 480-472-0000.

Get Educated.

Many of us are just learning about the duties and responsibilities of members on an HOA board. The next class offered by the Neighborhood Leadership College will be a great help to those members wanting to educate themselves about HOA boards and how they operate. On February 17, the class offered is "HOA Boards and Committees". This class will teach how an effective board operates and will give tips and techniques to help board members become more effective. It will also cover the responsibilites of an organization and its members. Please take the opportunity to check this out. For the minimal cost of the class, the information gleened will be well worth it. To reach them and register call 480-503-6761. The class goes from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
See you there.

About our association

The Goals of Our Association.

Our association was originally formed in response to planning and zoning issues and has evolved to encompass a large area of the far-east valley of Mesa, parts of Maricopa County and Apache Junction. We have become a clearing house of information and have been able to generate contacts with many city entities and other organizations to facilitate a more unified and better informed organization of residents to access. The most important thing we have learned in our endevors is that with organization, cooperation, and perserverence, a relatively small group of people can make a difference.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has"...Margaret Mead.

We enjoy hearing from our neighbors and hope you will take the opportunity to get in touch with our organization.
