The Nelson/Nygaard study commissioned by the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority, AKA Metro Transit, is being presented to the public at two community meetings at the Ron Norick Library on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. The meetings are at Noon and 5:00 PM.
Nelson/Nygaard is recommending total elimination of the Route 4 North Walker bus, instead adding its equipment to the Route 5 North Western route to enable half-hourly service on weekdays. In addition, Route 5 would be moved from Western to Classen between NW 30th Street and the intersection of Classen and Western. This would leave people living in the northeastern portions of the Paseo Neighborhood with nearly a mile walk to catch a bus. Bus service remaining to them would be the Route 23 NW 23rd Street and the Route 5. I do intend to attend the noon meeting and express concern about this.
