There is a program of 150 years of film and history at the Library and a tour thru Quality Hill as part of the Patucket Arts Festival.

Mystery solved! Paul gave me a pamphlet yesterday entitled "A Tavern, a Toll, and a Farm: A History of Pidge Avenue" by longtime Pidge Avenue resident John A. Geake. By 1954, the building had been gutted and was little more than a support for billboards, and it was demolished not long after - more than 300 years after its construction and roughly thirty years after a complete restoration.  Geake also goes into great detail about the times Generals Washington and Lafayette and spent in our neighborhood. The pamphlet is available from the Preservation Society of Pawtucket and can also be read at the Pawtucket Public Library.

I think I remember, but sure did not make the last call.

Now that would have been a neat bit of history to have at the beginning of Pawtucket...especially if a working bar.
