Snowed and Unshoveled

Posted in: NAP- Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket
How did you fare in Pawtucket and out of Pawtucket with the storm? Other stories were wild. Pawtucket was head and shoulders above Providence and Cranston in some of my nightmarish experiences on Thursday the 13th, and yet tame with other stories I have heard. As long as we are safe and sound and ready to plan for the future...Still amazing how few shovel their sidewalks including the cities..and especially the state.

Shoveled and Plowed

Dear Friends,

The city did a good job in plowing my neighborhood. However, many hills were icy as I found out on Japonica Street hill in Pawtucket about 1:30 p.m. Thursday 12/13. Some young man, who could not properly operate his van, slid his van while travelling backwards into my car, which was stopped. My boys and I are okay. The policeman who responded to scene was very professional and said this was the sixth accident he responded to in 45 minutes. Now I can answer the old joke, ''How fast was the other guy backing up when he hit me?''
What happened to side streets?

After everyone cleans out the driveway and walks the plows come and dump the iced stuff and some places did not even get touched with cars parked...curb to curb forget it and ice galore...yup- no sidewalks done

Sidewalk shovel ordinance?

Dear Iced and Neighbors,

About the good point that,''... some places did not get touched with cars parked'' , how about Pawtucket Police enforcing an old Pawtucket ordinance?

At one time, the landlord or homeowner become responsible for shoveling after a snowstorm. If the walkway was not passable after a certain number of hours following the storm, the landlord or homeowner earned a ticket from Pawtucket Police.
