Dear Waltham and friends,

What may have happened to the building materials that were destroyed when East Avenue homes were demolished by Urban Renewal in the early 1960's?  One Thompson, CT carpenter said many of the bricks and wood from the demolished structures proved recyclable in the construction of  then- new homes in Foster-Glocester, Cumberland, and Lincoln.

"It's a shame how Urban Renewal ruined Pawtucket," the carpenter said.  "Old with the old and in with the new is not always a good building strategy."

Incidentally, the carpenter worked on the extensive building material recycling projects in the East Avenue neighborhood nearly 50 years ago.

In addition, subcontractors cleaned out some very important geographical and Historical documents from former residents cellars.  My goal someday would be to rediscover those key Historical documents and start my own Historical library.

Happy New Year,

Peace,

Jim
