The sessions will explore and prioritize CDC best practice strategies to
reduce the consumption of sugar sweetened beverages in Rhode Islanders. As you
likely know, SSBs are a major contributor to obesity.

Possible strategies include the following:
- ensure access to potable water
- limit access to SSBs
- limit marketing and minimize marketing's impact on children
- pricing strategies
- screening and counseling around SSBs as part of routine medical
care
The meetings will be facilitated by M+R Strategic Services, who will
provide infrastructure support and strategy as RIMS begins to build and execute
a campaign for 2012.

RI DOH staff will also be present to provide information on their SSB media
and educational campaign, slated to kick off in mid-October.

All meetings are scheduled to run from 8:30 am - 9:30 am.
