Holiday time must bring out more scammers... someone just alerted us about a call her husband received this week:

“Got a call from a man who claimed the government is issuing new Social Security numbers and they gave my husband a lot of personal information about himself - SS# , address, birthday.  Then said in order to proceed they needed his bank account number.

He of course hung up - but how many elderly would fall for this?”

Please be especially on guard for this type of scam, whether it’s someone calling, coming to your door or over the Internet. Sadly, scammers can get a lot of information about you online, especially through Facebook (either your Facebook page or your those of your grandchildren). Then they use that information to make themselves seem credible… NEVER give out your personal information to a stranger unless you initiated the contact and know that you’re speaking to a true representative of the agency or company you contacted.
