Homeowners Meeting a Success

The homeowners meeting of Sept 25 was a tremendous success. There was overwhelming support for reinstituting our homeowners association to deal with current and new issues. Over 50 homes were represented. If you attended, thank you for your input. The next meeting will be November 28, (Wed) at 7:00pm at Ponderosa for those who signed up to be a part of the committee to reestablish the HOA or anyone interested in being a part of the committee.

Typical functions of a Homeowners Association

1. Infrastructure--streets, sidewalks, common areas
2. Covenant and architectural control
3. Crime awareness
4. Entrance sign maintenance
5. Issues such as vandalism, trash pickup, street sweeping, speeding in the neighborhood
6. New issues such as the barrier wall along Jewell
7. Directing residents to resources for matters a HOA does noe oversee
8. Selection of a date for the garage sale and picnic
9. Works with city and other area HOA's for reviewing proposed businesses and their impact on our neighborhood
10. Works with police on areas of concern
11. Collects dues to provide for mailings, signs, newpaper ads, P.O. Box rental
12. Most importantly, it is many residents actively involved in the HOA working together to achieve an outstanding neighborhood.

Things a HOA are not:
1. A forum for resolution of disputes between neighbors
2. A few people doing all of the work!!

Opportunities for Peoria Park

1. Barrier wall along Jewell--there was overwhelming support to proveed with this but we must have an association in place before we start!
2. The medical/bioscience park at Fitzsimmons will bring 35-40,000 new jobs. Peoria Park is 5.5 miles away and in the Cherry Creek School District. We will be a very desirable location for this development and the development that will result around it if our neighborhood can be as desirable as those around us. Our property values will also increase!
