1. Park your car(s) in your driveway or garage. This allows the plow to do its work and keeps cars from being plowed in or otherwise blocking the roadway. Cars blocking the roadway is a major decision factor in whether a person with a plow would risk coming down your street in very bad conditions.
2. Emergency routes, major roadways, through routes, schools, and major businesses all have priority over your street when a person with a plow is out and about. Don't wait for the plow. Shovel early in the snow storm if you can. When the snow stops, clear your way completely and lay down some salt or other approved ice melting chemicals.
3. Help your neighbor. If for no other reason, do it to keep him/her from getting stuck in front of you.
