Speed Bumps

Posted in: Westown Watch
I would like to find out how to get speed bumps on our road as the speeding down the street is bad... There are children that play out front and we want to keep them safe. Over the Memorial Day holiday a drunk driver failed to negotiatate the curve in our street smashed through my brick wall and into both my cars in the driveway. The impact was so great that a brick from the wall landed on my neighbor's roof. The police said that the car was probably going 55 mph. Hopefully speed bumps will help deter speeding down Columbine Drive.

I understand your concern and would like to support you in your quest to make people realize how vital it is that they do not exceed the speed limit in our neighborhood. Getting speed bumps put on your street does involve a process of petitioning the people that live on your block and also a the amount of traffic on your street is commonly clocked, to determine how many people access your street daily. Please attend the next public meeting on September 10th at Sahuaro Elementary at 7 pm so that we can further discuss this issue and Westown Watch Association can aid you in taking the appropriate steps in getting speed bumps. Also, anytime you witness speeding in the neighborhood, please take the time to contact the traffic complaint line at 534-speed. The more calls they get the more likely they will be to have a radar trailer placed in our neighborhood along with traffic patrolmen. Thank you for taking the time to keep our neighborhood ours.
