Turbans for Cancer Patients

My Aunt was recently diagnosed with throat and lung cancer. The hospital
in Greeley, Colorado where she receives her chemotherapy has been very good
to her. Their program, followup, and compassion has been incredible.

Most who receive chemotherapy lose their hair. The hospital tries to
supply their cancer patients with attractive turbans to wear. Not only do
they help to camaflouge the hair loss, but they help the patients to feel
more attractive. When my mother took my aunt for her treatment today she
was told that the demand for turbans has been greater than the supply, and
the hospital's supply has been completely depleted. They are desperate for more turbans.

The woman who spoke with mom said that they have a pattern they will send
out to anyone/group interested in making soft, pretty turbans for these
women to use. Does anyone know of organizations who make and donate these
turbans (women's groups, sewing clubs etc.) ? Are any of you interested in
making turbans? I'd be interested in feedback from those who have
information I can pass on to the hospital.

Please address the subject line of your e-mail with one word: Turbans.

If you'd like to get a pattern, or would like additional information Judy
can be contacted at 1-920-356-9727. Please pass this on to those on your
e-mail list. It may be that this call for help will put us in touch with
those who can help to replenish the turbans needed.

Sincerely, Ronda Knuth rjknuth@earthlink.net , please put Turbans in the subject line.
