Fire works

Posted in: Castlegate
Can someone please verify that Fireworks are illegal??? Because we have some neighbors that think they are not. I have called the Sheriff and of course they were done by the time they were able to get here. Does this bother anyone else? I really dont want my house to catch fire from others negligence.
Re: Fireworks

Yes, fireworks ARE illegal in Arizona. Here is an excerpt from the below listed website:

''Sparkler and Fireworks Laws in Phoenix
Fireworks are illegal in Arizona. It is against the law in Arizona to sell, use, explode, or even possess fireworks. Events that are held on any public school, state, or county properties that involve fireworks and and pyrotechnic displays must receive a permit from the Arizona State Fire Marshal.

How Are Fireworks Defined in AZ?
As far as Arizona is concerned, fireworks includes any ''combustible or explosive composition, substance or combination of substances, or any article prepared for the purpose of producing a visible or audible effect by combustion, explosion, deflagration or detonation...''
Skyrockets, firecrackers, torpedoes and roman candles all fall under the category of illegal fireworks. ''

Some of them are fireworks, I have also seen (and heard) people shooting off guns in our neighborhood as well. Yes, I agree with you about the house catching on fire, or my yard with it being SO dry out here, and with the guns, well the obvious dangers there. Calling the Sheriff is great, but as you said by the time someone gets there (definite low priority call I am sure) the people are done and have gone inside. Right up there with people driving their ATV's and dirt bikes down the residential streets at 45+mph and not being able to do much about it. I just don't really have an answer. Below is the website I got that quote from. If you google ''Arizona fireworks laws'' you can come up with quite a few, but yes, they ARE illegal.

Here is an additional quote and an additional like to a government website regarding Arizona and fireworks.

''The city of Phoenix explicitly prohibits the sale or use of any fireworks.
Some people smuggle fireworks into Arizona from other states or from Mexico. It is strictly expressed that bringing fireworks into Arizona from other places is illegal and punishable by law. Use or possession of fireworks is a Class 1 misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1000 and/or six months in jail. Only those people with special licenses are allowed ''controlled'' fireworks displays. They take extensive precautions to ensure a safe, yet exciting show.

Citizens who have fireworks, which are illegal, may turn them in to any fire station without penalty. Citizens who wish to report illegal use of fireworks should call 9-1-1. ''

You can find all of Arizona's laws here ''http://www.azleg.state.az.us/ArizonaRevisedStatutes.asp''

They are illegal unless you are a professional and have a permit. Find out who has them, who is using them, and call the Sherrifs Office.
