The board can meet as often as they'd like without telling anyone. The PUBLIC meetings are once a quarter because NOBODY SHOWS UP. I go some of the time, and I could count on 2 hands the number of people there. In a subdivision with 1400 homes, it is pathetic that there are only 10 or less people at these meetings. I don't blame them for holding them once every 4 months. They WERE holding them monthly, but nobody comes because 99% of the community doesn't care, doesn't have time, whatever the reason is, they simply don't show up. The board may be meeting monthly and simply having it be a board meeting w/o notifying everyone else which I believe they are entitled to do.
We had the same results with the Block Watch....which I am sure most of you don't even know we have because nobody ever came to the meetings.
Also, most people complain about their HOA company. I admit, I don't like Kachina, but I have yet to find ANYONE in any city who actually thinks their HOA company does a good job. Most people complain about them, whether it be that they don't do anything and/or they charge too much. The board members try their best, but they are 9 people going to meetings that nobody cares to attend. Maybe if people took more time to get involved instead of expecting everyone else to fix the problem for them, things would get better faster.
