Phoenicians are known to the rest of the nation as the ''Red Light Runners of the Nation''.
It won't be long before we're known as the Emergency Vehicle Enroute Tailgaiters of the Nation!
What's the first thing you do when you see an emergency vehicle enroute with it's lights and siren on?
A) You turn up your radio to drown out the sirens?
B) Get right behind them the emergency vehicles - they are making better time than anyone else around you!
C) As soon as you hear or see the emergency vehicle you look for a safe place to pull over to the right, asap.
D) You stay back behind an emergency vehicle 500 feet.
If you chose A & B - WRONG!!!
You need to turn DOWN the radio and give the emergency vehicles enough room to manuever without their having to look out for YOU.
If you chose C & D, you not only are a smart driver but a safe driver for yourself and those around you.
An emergency vehicle can be the police or fire. Just remember if it were your home on fire or your loved one needing the assistance; you'd want EVERYONE to clear the road for the emergency vehicles as quickly as they can do so safely. We don't want you getting into an accident to make room.
If there is absolutely no way to get over to the right from where you are, safely. Simply stay put! These men and women are trained to get around you in these situations. If you are driving around looking for somewhere to pull over or stop; you're simply slowing them down further.
I see this everyday, someone tailgaiting or not pulling over for emergency vehicles. Every second does count!
