If You Think Your Child Has Been Poisoned


If you think your child has been poisoned, call the Poison Control Center for help right away.

Do not wait for your child to look or feel sick.

The Poison Control Center can also answer questions about: bug and snake bites and stings irritants to the skin or eyes inhaled substances safe use, storage and disposal of poisons

You can call the Poison Control Center free of charge 24 hours a day, (7) seven days a week at 602-253-3334 or 1-800-362-0101 outside of the Phoenix-Metro area.

For the hearing impaired, the number is 9-1-1.

For TDD/TTY Users: After your call is answered pressing a TDD/TTY key several times may help shorten the time necessary to respond to your call!

!!!Special Reminder about Syrup of Ipecac!!!

Always keep a bottle of Syrup of Ipecac handy for each child in your home. If a poison is swallowed you may be told to make the victim throw up.

Syrup of Ipecac is the only safe way to do this.

You should only give Syrup of Ipecac if the Poison Center tells you to.
