For the last three months, a black and white cat has been using my yard on E. Calypso as a bathroom. He's used my garden spot and now is using the grass in the back yard. I realize cats are free agents, but the owner of this particular cat needs to provide a sandbox for it.

Cats and leashs
It is my understanding that cats are also to be leashed. Besides, what it is doing to your property is wrong. If you know the owner take it up with them. If you don't or can get no result, you have every right to catch the cat and call the police or proper authority and have the owner fined. |

Free-range cats
I don't think they'll fine the owner. When I called animal control (regarding the same cat) they told me that cats are considered free-roaming animals in the city of Mesa and they will not come out to pick them up. If you want to catch them yourself and drive them over to animal control they'll take them but if they have owner information on them they'll just call the owner and have them come pick it up again. Have you heard something different? |

Cats the easy pet ?
I think a lot of cat owners have problems keeping up their indoor boxes. So they just shoo kitty outside for a few days until they get organized. Then it becomes a neighborhood problem.I've had my share of cats stalking in my yard... |
