Pico del Mar Neighborhood Association is a combination of two Block Clubs, Mansfield/Orange/Sycamore and Redondo/Meadowbrook/Cloverdale/Cochran. In 2002, as P.I.C.O. Neighborhood Council was being formed and boundaries were being set, the community began to combine Neighborhood Block Clubs. The association is named after our local historical theater, Del Mar. Since our area is bound by Pico Blvd we added Pico to the name.
In October 2005, Pico del Mar Block Club became Pico del Mar Neighborhood Association.
The business of this newly named association has a governing body presided over by its President, Janelle Brown; Donna Black-Bradley, Vice-President, Laura Gray, Treasurer; and Shirley Leonard, Secretary. The first order of business for these ladies were to develope governing rules for the Association. Successfully, they wrote the first governing rules of the Association, PdMNAs Bylaws. Never in the history of the "block clubs" were there procedures and policies and it was important to the officers that they lay the foundation for their successors to follow. The Bylaws are posted on this site under Community Pages for your convenience.(If you would like a copy of the Bylaws, please send your request via email to 2bjanelle@sbcglobal.net) Pico del Mar Neighborhood Association (PdMNA) Officers are committed to enhancing the quality of life in this small but diverse community. Collectively, they have lived in the area over 60 years!
After an unamious vote in favor of the bylaws, the officers have moved on to the next order of business, reaching out to the community. The Outreach Committee is planning its first annual Community Outreach Mixer. The event will be held at the Tom Bradley Youth and Family Center, 5213 W. Pico Blvd, between Cochran Avenue and Cloverdale Avenue. They will be games for the children, information for the community, and persons from various governmental agencies on hand to answer any questions and respond to the community's concerns. In an attempt to bridge the gap between the residents and business owners, PdMNA's Officers are meeting the owners and/or employees in the area. Presenting each business with a Welcome Packet of information on the Association, its members and its Officers.

The Pico Del Mar neighborhood is named after the historic Del Mar Theatre, which opened in 1928. The community restored the Del Mar’s yellow and blue neon sign, a neighborhood landmark, in April 2003. The neighborhood is located on historically significant land once known as the Los Rancho Cienegas Land Grant. This rancho, owned by the prominent Fancisco Avila family in the early 19th century, was used as a working cattle ranch.
