I'm sure everyone knows that the recent blizzard was of historical proportion. It was reported on several television stations from Philadelphia that we had the largest snowfall ever recorded during one storm, and that we now have had more snow so far this winter than ever before. That's a fact !!
Our snow-plowing contractor performed about as well as we could expect. Was it perfect ? No. But they just could not push that much snow any further. The contractor brought in a front-end loader and a "bob-cat" to help pile the snow higher. They especially concentrated on the cul-de-sacs and intersections. We all wish the streets were plowed wider, and that 100% of the mailboxes were made accessible. Sadly, that is not the case. I have travelled around to several communities in the area, and I believe PR has been cleared better than most. And remember we all pay quite a bit for this snow removal work, and only part of it is reimbursed by the State. DelDOT had all they could handle, too. Just too much snow !
In closing, just remember it was a huge blizzard and our contractor did as well as he could without breaking our finances.
If anyone in the community has older children who would be willing to shovel out mailboxes for a fee, I bet a lot of the homeowners would agree to pay for this service. That is between the shoveller and the homeowner, outside of the role of the Board of Directors.
Please call any member of the Board if you have any questions.
