Fate of our Police Department??????????

Posted in: Strathmoor Village

Hello All, I have heard some rather distressing news/gossip regarding our police department. My wife came in after church and said that she heard that the new commission and the mayor intend on getting rid of our police department. This news is greatly disturbing to us. We have lived here for many years and have lived in and around the highlands our entire life. One of the major reasons we love living here is the close personal relationship we have with our police department. We know that if we need them they are right here.

I don't know if this is true and I sincerley hope it is just a vicious rumor, we NEED our police department.

I hope I don't end up regretting my vote for the new commission.

Has anyone else heard this, or does anyone know the truth???

I would be surprised if the mayor and new commissioners have had time to discuss doing much of anything yet.  I have not heard this nor would I put much stock in it.

I would guess it's a rumour, at this point.  I plan to attend Monday night's meeting at the bank...

Here's hoping the new group will be effective....I believe they will be.

I'm just curious why we really need our police department?

I find it amusing that people know my opinions before I do!!!!  Don't worry, there is no conspiracy among the new commissioners to get rid of the police department.  As a private citizen (I'm not a commissioner yet), I do have concerns about any major expenditure of tax money.  If there is ever a decision to be made about the fate of our police department, my vote will be based upon factors such as cost vs. service, the option of having our own police vs. contracting police protection, and most importantly, the wishes of the residents of Strathmoor Village.  I cannot speak for the others, but at least you know what I think.  Anyone else out there have anything to say about this?
