Dear neighboring city residents,
It's time for all of us to join together in our fight to preserve our communities from being over built.
There are Developers building too high, oversized and out of character of existing communities. They are using loopholes, such as SB 1818 density bonus for low income housing, to build their developments bigger and taller than the zoning ordinances in your city.
(for more info on SB 1818 go to:
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/03-04/bill/sen/sb_1801-1850/sb_1818_bill_20040930_chaptered.pdf)
We need to support each other's cities and send a message to our councilman's, City Planning, and mayor that SB1818 is being used more as a loophole for financial gain by developers than to create affordable housing. We want our cities to be developed compatible size and density of the existing communities.
Please join us in our fight by signing our petition.
Below you will find a link that directs you to the petition.
Please send us links to you petitions as we can also help you in your community.
Our Playa Del Rey city
We have a developer who is trying to overbuild in our beach community. The location of this building has significance to the community. There is zoning ordinances that only allow building to be 37'-45' high. This developer is attempting to use SB1818 to develop a 72 unit 56+ high building less than 50'yrds from the beach. In order for him to get an extra story all he has to do is add 7 low income units out of the 72 units to the building. We are not opposed to low income housing. The building being proposed is too big for the beach, it is out character. There are no buildings that come close to this height or density in our area.
Last night we had a victorious night at the NCWPD meeting. The council voted unanimously against Legado 56' + high proposed development at Culver blvd, and Vista Del Mar.
This was the first of what we believe will be more battles with this developer or other developers to come. Folks the buck doesn't stop here with your support. Please continue to have friends and neighbors from all over the city of LA sign the petitions. It's time to make a stance with the city of LA. Our NC has and will join us in sending our message to the parties that can help hear the voice of our city.
City planning and the Coastal commission wants to see signatures from all over Los Angeles, and neighboring states, as they look at Playa Del Rey as everyone's beach.
