Dear Arthur,

Please keep looking.  Know any groups who are giving away milk and canned foods?  The Food Pantry at St. Matthew Trinity has been overwhelmed since January.

Since the start of the year, the number of needy Pawtucket clients has risen from 1,500 per month to 1,750 residents, about 3 percent of the city's population.

Pawtucket KleenUp 2009

On Saturday, April 25th, the Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket is cleaning up the City of Pawtucket at various locations starting at 9:00 am. Wouldn't it be nice if a group could come together and clean up Payne Park?  Arthur Plitt is looking for volunteers to help out that day.  Our board member Maria Silva Bouchard is willing to coordinate a group for Payne Park.  If you have a few hours to spare, please call Maria at 724-7121 or Arthur at 724-8915.

Now that spring is here this is the perfect opportunity to get outside and take care of our own properties.  Since the City is facing financial difficulties, we as neighbors need to start taking PRIDE in our own neighborhoods.  That starts by cleaning our sidewalks and gutters, picking up trash that is blowing around and weeds that start to pop up.  If each person took a few minutes in front of their properties to clean it up, the City would look 100% better and it would entice more people to stay longer in our city.  You don't have to own your property to have pride.   We don't want Woodlawn to look like a slum area because we are not a slum area.   Let's show the other neighborhoods that we are a proud community.  The domino effect will start when neighbors see other neighbors cleaning up.  It can become a game of who can outdo who.  Let's see who wins.
