Wanted to make others aware of a company that is fraudulently charging
credit cards. They nailed me the past two months for a total of $131.84
This companies name, as it will appear on your credit card
statement is PAY-COMMS.COM
I did some research on the net and they are doing this to people
all over in exactly the same way each time. The company is
most likely bogus, they are located offshore on a little island
called St. Kitts in the East Carribean South East of Puerto Rico.
Rest assured, I did NOT do any business with this company and
have no idea how they got my credit card number but if they get
your number, you can expect to see charges like this...
1/30/2005 - PAY-COMMS.COM, 206-2020445, 4 - $1.99
2/01/2005 - PAY-COMMS.COM, 206-2020445, 4 - $39.95
2/01/2005 - PAY-COMMS.COM, 206-2020445, 4 - $39.95
3/10/2005 - PAY-COMMS.COM, 206-2020445, 7 - $49.95
I suspect they are using a random number generator to plug away
at random credit card number strings, which is the first charge of
$1.99 (a test), when they get an authorization back for the $1.99
''test charge'' they know they have a good number and will start
charging bogus charges to that number.
I was able to dispute the first three charges and get them taken off my bill but now that I noticed a fourth charge
I've decided to just cancel the card.
By the way, that is how these crooks make their money, sneaking a
charge in here and there hoping people don't notice and pay their
bill anyway.
My advice to everyone is PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ALL CHARGES
AND ACTIVITY ON YOUR ACCOUNTS!! If you are not using online
access to your accounts I advise doing so, this allows you to go online
daily and check the activity of your accounts rather then waiting for
a bill in the mail that arrives only once a month. Time is crucial in
filing a dispute claim and the quicker you notice a bogus charge the
quicker you can dispute it!
I filed a complaint online with RipOffReport.com, others have reported
the same company and the exact same method of charges.
