Lents Towncenter revitalization

Lents Urban Renewal

I have been involved with the URAC since it's inception. My issue with it is all the inflated prices the city has set on the individual projects. Yes we will have some nice things out of this, one of them being Raymond Park, but the citys inflated costs are unbelieveable. Having done my own pricing on a few items, I feel we could make the money go much further to do more things we need in PGNA. The city makes the projects so difficult and bureaucratly cumbersome that the frustration level for those of us on the committees is very high. Two of us have stuck with the main portions of this to make sure the PGNA's interests are protected. As far as taxes are concerned, they will rise anyway because of all the new construction. I do understand the frustration with the flood plain issue as well, as I live there too. I am looking forward to seeing the face lift, I am concerned for citizens that are on fixed incomes and will taxed right out of their homes. What do we do allow our area to fall victim to being a slum or fix it up? Good question.
