With all the workers laid off, are we going to do our own sweeping of the sand on the street? Seems like all may affect our parks too or were we really topheavy?

I would not be surprised they also raise  taxes and maybe a Cranston type assessment

I would doubt if they stop sweeping but maybe more concentrated on the streets that need it and some less often.

I think we may see & enjoy the stimulus efforts at slowing tax increases, but doubt if we will stop the increase and doubt any assessment of taxpayers like hit Cranston residents a few years ago

Dear Arthur and friends,

I do not know what will happen in terms of public works changes for 2009.  However, projects such as mowing the lawn at city cemeteries will probably be ignored or postponed.

In terms of street sweeping, some work will have to be accomplished.  Otherwise, bicyclists could get injured, as my son did a few years ago, on Daggett Avenue,  when his bicycle hit a sand patch, and he toppled over.  Luckily for me, my son was not injured seriously, just nasty scrapes on both arms.

On the other hand, I am sure pothole repairs will continue into the spring.
