Redland Woods

Can anyone possibly believe that with 500+ homeowners in this community, that all would be of a like mind? Is there no room whatsoever for disagreement about the pool? Or this just something that was to be ''crammed down'' our throats, no matter what?
When someone sets up a ''pretend'' Redland Woods website, as if it were sponsored by our Board of Directors, and basically tried to insist that there are no other alternatives than theirs, and that anyone who differs from them is lying,isn't that taking it a bit too far.
I would like to see the board of Directors (and Pool Committee)explain to us in detail, whether this is a bad product of their pool campaign or not. Also, how about some details as to what the bids were, who the bids were from and where exactly (which fund is being used: fence, reserve, landscaping, etc.)the money is coming, and most importantly, give us a design layout to show exactly what is to be done and by whom. Is this too much to ask or is there some reason we don't have access to this info prior to the vote?
What happened to the idea that the elected board represents ''all'' the residents and not just a few who want everyone else to pay to entertain their children or raise their home values so they can sell and leave and let the rest of us deal with trying to take care of something we do not want.
When we purchased our homes here, we knew exactly what we were able to afford. If we expected a gated community with a pool and cabana for our children, then we would have bought home in those neighborhoods that already had them added into their cost per square foot by the builder who set it all up. Why move to a less expensive neighborhood and then expect to get all the extras without paying for them?
I vote ''no'' at least until we get more facts!

You are the reason

You are the main reason that I am selling my house now. I bought into this neighborhood so I could raise my children with ammieties. I moved in 6 years ago and really upset that the pool hasn't been built already. The Rayco salesman showed me the nice land where the park area is now and said '' There will be a neighborhood pool down in this area''.

The reason I will be moving is because I really don't want to live in a ''Retirement Community with Big Houses''. If you haven't notice yet, but that the families that have played with my family are long gone. The have moved to Encino Park, The Terraces, ETC.. Where there is very STRONG community support.

The selling price and the time on market of house is making my physical sick. I have been told by realtors that our neighborhood is not desirable for potental buyers.

''Let the Buyer Beware''

Most adults are certainly aware that the words of any salesman should be considered very ''carefully'' when making major financial decisions. If any pool could or should have been built, the developer almost certainly would have constructed it first to make the development even more ''appealing''. That same salesman was probably the same one who then told some friends of mine that nothing would be built on the ''greenbelt'' behind their homes (for which they paid many thousands more for their lot site). Should they now be ''penalized'' after paying more for the nice quiet and serenity of their greenbelt lot. I don't believe so. They got what he paid for and we all also got exactly what we paid for. Had a pool been built by the developer we would have all paid more at that time. As you pursue other communities, weigh very carefully the words of the salesman. What you see is ususally what you get!!!! Good luck.

No, you are the reason

You are the reason that you do not live in a community with a pool. You bought a house in a neighborhood without a pool. If you really wanted a pool, you should have looked for a neighborhood that already had a pool. this would be the closest you could get to definitely having a pool.
By the way,what makes you think the people who question a pool are only retirees? Many people here are second owners with children. There was no salesman telling us that we'd have a pool. We knew what we were getting. If we wanted a pool and all the problems and expenses of one, we would not have bought a home here. Don't expect us to finance your mistake.
