Effective responses to crime

Posted in: Payne-Phalen District 5 Planning
The list

Here is a short list of what it will take to effectively deal with crime on the Eastside.

1. A systematic community and governmental approach to the issues of economic disparity.

2. An honest effort by all stakeholders to deal with and end institutional racism.

3. Commitment and courage of community residents to become actively involved in the prevention of crime.

4. A District Council willing to entertain methods and ideas brought to it by the community.

5. A District Council willing and able to put those ideas and methods into ACTION.

6. Leadership in both the community and the City government who are willing to spend political capital to bring focus on the problem.
Great responses!

Some good ideas here. To bring ideas to action - get involved in the District Five Neighborhood Action Committee which meets every third Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Arlington Public Library located at Jessamine and Greenbrier. This is the venue in which ideas can be turned into specific group actions by Task Teams. Thanks for contributing to this discussion!
