Hey Everyone-

My wife and I have been considering Xeriscape landscaping for a while now and were wondering if there is a community of Greenies in RT that would be willing to go in as a group so that everyone could reap the benefits of a possible group discount with a landscaping company?

For anyone who doesn't know what it is, check out this web site: http://www.eartheasy.com/grow_xeriscape.htm

Essentially, your lawn is replaced by water retaining organic soils (e.g., cedar, bone meal, rock phosphates, etc.) and native, drought resistant, plants are used in the design. Drip hose irrigation systems are used with water reservoirs so that we'd have to use the least amount of water possible. I saw some homes with xeriscape on a recent trip to Colorado and they were beautiful -- trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers were all part of the scheme -- and maybe an occasional flowering cactus =o) They were very pretty.

It's great for water conservation and, more importantly, I don't have to look at my mostly dead lawn anymore. I would be willing to do the research on local landscapers and even have some of them bid on the project. I'm guessing the more interest we have, the better the price. Also, from what I can tell, it has the potential to raise home value and curb appeal.

Just curious -- it would be great to offset the cost and improve our community.

Let me know if you're interested,
Jeff B.
