Actually, I spoke with Wylie Coyote and Pumba and they said its an HOA conspiracyWink.

Well be careful because if you look real close there are hidden cameras in the fountains that are recording your every move around the lake so i am always careful not to pick my nose while out there.

The truth as we know it is...

River Trails HOA met with Lakes of River Trails HOA members to discuss RT residents being able to use the ponds located north of Trinity and the other south of Riverfalls.  They said they would discuss it with their members and get back to our HOA.  Shortly thereafter, they came back with, they would like to allow RT use of the ponds but, that it was basically against their insurance policy.

Decidingly so, it was very disappointing to hear. Some people have decided to go ahead and take their chances.  Others have vowed to stay away.  I'm kind of a fence sitter on this one.  I don't like the outcome and frankly don't quite believe that their insurance policy states what they specifically stated.  I think this was an easy way of saying No without offending individuals. However, I also understand how difficult it is to get people to pay HOA dues.  And being able to utilize use of the amentities to justify why one should pay dues is a good bargaining tool.

I don't like the idea of putting a fence around it, it takes away from the beauty of it.  I also don't agree with Every Tom, Dick and Harry from surrounding areas outside of RT and LORT coming over.  Unfortunently, I think this is all as a result of as they say "A few bad apples, spoiling the whole tree".

I will say that the reason LORT have the ponds is because of Texas Wetland Preservation.  Landowners/Developers that are located in specific areas of the Central Flyway for Waterfowl migration have specific regulations/requirements that have to be met.  A certain amount of wetland have to be preserved or enhanced but cannot be totally eliminated. Landowners/Developers often recieve funding and special tax incentives to maintain, enhance and/or preserve the wetlands.

FYI - River Trails neighborhood boundaries are Trinity to Saranac and Salado to Precinct Line.

By the way...I'm a GAMBLER!!!Wink

Melissa,  thank you for your post.  It was very informative.  Stayathomemom,  honestly,  please do not tell people to let it go just because you  find the topic mundane.  Just skip the topic.  No one is telling you to click on it and read it.

What I find frustrating is the separation of the two neighborhoods.  Every since that pond was build RT residents have been using it.  IT IS upsetting to be told we can no longer use it.  And I understand why the decision was made to educate RT residents on the use of the pond,  to shut LORT residents up. LORT HOA came up with reasoning of HOA fees and their insurance policy to stop RT from using the pond because LORT HOA doesn't want  to make mandatory HOA paying residents upset because all they do is gripe...gripe....and gripe.   ABOUT EVERYTHING!  Why?  Because they can.  Because they pay mandatory fee's.   What is so upsetting to me is that even in this day and age and how far our society has grown both Civilly and Humanitarianly - we still have a bunch of Chauvinistic, Egoistic, and Imprudent people running around the world with us.  I guess some people never grow up.

I am also a gambler - perhaps we should have a neighborhood "just-for-fun" poker night?
