On Friday night (early Saturday morning) someone stole plugs of grass out of my yard on Brushy Creek.  Has anyone else reported such a theft?  It looks like they used a post hold digger.  I have at least 10 holes throughout my yard.

I think what you have is not a theif but an armadillo, you can build a trap to catch him, animal control will tell you how.

Candy is right.  It's an armadillo.  We have this happen every year.  Animal control will actually bring out a humane trap for you to use.  If you get anything, they will come take it away for you too.  We and many of our neighbors have used the traps and have not had any luck. Unfortunately, the traps usually don't work and everyone I have spoken to says that you pretty much have to kill them.  As it starts to cool they will stop.  Just consider it free aeration for you yard.  Good Luck!
