That is the exact reason it was suggested for individuals to sign up on those sites. So, you can see what is going on almost immediately. It has also been reported in the last few neighborhood newsletters that home invasions are on a rise. I knew it would happen with the status of the economy. That is why I had the Home Invasion class for the neighborhood in April.
I attended a Chief's Meeting Monday night. Several summer safety initiatives have been implemented and helped in some areas. Property theft is down 4.2%, auto theft is down 26.9% but, burglary of a habitat is way up all over the City by 13.6%. The best defense for home invasions is getting to know your neighbors, and knowing who is at home during the day to assist with watching your house. Some daytime patrols would certainly help alot but, I can't find people to patrol during the day. We all work. I currently have one daytime patroller that is really helping but, he can't be everywhere at once. God only kows what the stats would look like without him. Thanks Mark!!!!!
I have got a few responses from the last newsletter for interest in citizens on patrols. I'm working with PD to get a class before the next scheduled one in October. I need it now. So I can get back to these people and get them rolling while they are willing. People lose interest very quickly.
If anyone is interested in joining Citizens on Patrol, it's been in effect since 1992 and has proven to be a huge success all over the United States. Fort Worth implemented it and every major City has followed. It works but, it requires participants. To participate, please contact me at mcadomk@yahoo.com or direct at 817.683.2774.
