I had a visit from a door-to-door security salesman today.  The deal was if I put a sign in my yard to advertise, I would get a free system.  He mentioned a couple of my neighbors by name and said they had just signed up (and they hadn't).  He wanted to come in my house to look at my current system to see if it was compatible with their service, even though I told him I wasn't interested.  He had an ID badge with the company name on it, and then pulled out his driver's license (but it was a Utah license, so I wouldn't know if it didn't look right).  Anyway, maybe he was legit, maybe not.  But just so you know, a friend of mine who also lives in the neighborhood said that security company employees should have something called a blue card that shows they are licensed through the department of public safety... and this guy didn't show me anyting like that.

Sorry I don't remember the name of the company... it wasn't one I'd heard of before, and he didn't leave a card.

Sounds like the Pennicle security sales guy that came by my house a few months ago with the exact same schpeel.  They are very pushy.  Pushy sales people turn me off, and automatically lose a sale with me.

I did just as you and said no thanks.

Same here, before he could finish the first sentence, I told him I was not interested & get off my property, he got snippy and said as he was walking away that they're the only ones who work with UVerse & he'll be back when my line gets cut, etc.

Everyone:  There's no reason to switch to anyone else.  The "yard sign" deal has lots of catches, google for Pinnacle and you'll find far and wide more complaints than any company.  BTW, ADT & Brinks (now Broadview?) have been around for hundreds of years, have similar systems and some even work with iPhone.  They both do wireless at comparable cost, and work nationally with Verizon FIOS and ATT Uverse.  Verizon & ATT's VoIP lines do not cost extra to use, just be sure it's wired properly.
