I did my winter cut on my lawn last Saturday - 11/13. I collected 11 lawn sacks of grass. I placed the sacks in front of my garage; intending to set the sacks at the curb this Thursday for pick-up. When I left for work Wednesday morning, all eleven sacks were still in front of the garage. When I returned home from work that afternoon, 8 of the sacks had been removed from in front of my garage. No note, no communication of any sort.
I don't mind that someone backed a vehicle into my driveway and loaded the sacks of grass and drove off.
I mind that this person did not, at the very least, ask permission to do so. It was rude, unneighborly and actually against the law. This person came onto my private property without my permission and took items that did not belong to this person. It does not matter that the items were sacks of grass that I was going to set at the curb for disposal. This person violated the law - criminal tresspassing and theft. And that is what makes me angry.
No, I am not going to call the police or file a report. After all, it was only lawn grass.
But an apology would be nice. If this person would have just asked, I would have helped load the sacks in the vehicle.
So, if anyone knows someone that is setting up a garden, a mulching project or a compost project, and this someone seems to have acquired 8 sacks of grass for an unknown source, point this person to this post. Maybe it will help.
And for this person's information, next March, probably the second Saturday, I will be scapling my lawn for Spring. I should have another 10 or 12 bags of grass available. Come on by if you want the grass - but ASK this time. Thank you.
