Rezoning DENIED!! WOOOHOOO!

Posted in: River Trails

Thanks to everyone who signed petitions, helped get petitions signed, helped spread the word, and showed up at the meeting today!  It was standing room only and the council voted UNANIMOUSLY in our favor.  The rezoning has been denied!!!  Way to go neighbors!!!  Woohoo!

Just got this message from our HOA President, Jim Roland. Apparently the fight still is not over. :(

" I'm very happy that the zoning commission listened to everyone, and Mr. Edmunds' comment that both of us worked together and talked to each other but there still was no progress. The commission recognized that we did our part to listen to them. I did hear that the commission did say it was VERY RARE to hear that a continuance would be denied, but they did deny theirs today! Remember though, City Council on 12/6 could still override the commission's recommendation so we still need to be there in numbers!"

So PLEASE plan to attend the meeting on 12/6 at 7:00pm!!

Note from Amy Higgins "We won one battle today but the most important meeting takes place December 6. I have talked to some who thinks the city council is predisposed to see more along the lines of the company than the neighbors, We need lots of neighbors to show up - even more than today. We can't let up thinking this is won - it isn't. The folks with the real power is the city council. This meeting is in the evening rather than the work day - so let's really show how we feel with our bodies in city council seats! My understanding is that as many people who would like to speak can - up to 3 minutes. I would like to see a ton of neighbors get up to speak - Its simple, you go early amd sign up to speak you will be asked on the form for/against. Its a good idea to call amd ask if they're limiting the number that can speak, they sometimes do that. If the zoning board gave a unanimous recommendation, we follow through with emails and phone calls to city council, and we have a large showing of vocal neighbors - the city council would have a lot of explaining to do if they go against us. We also got a lot of media coverag todaye that hopefully will continue - I know CBS 11 and Fox4 was there." I hope that everyone will send a thank you email to the zoning commission members. We need them on our side.

And we need AS MANY BODIES AS POSSIBLE at the DEC. 6 meeting at 7:00PM!! BE THERE!!!

Here are all of the city council member names, numbers, and email addresses for those that did not get them or see them the first time around.
