Once again Rolando Park Elementary is on the short list for closure. If the school closes our general ed., neighborhood students would be sent to Oak Park Elem, Carver Elem, or Clay Elem; transportation would NOT be provided.
What would happen to the site? As an empty location it would have a greater chance of getting graffiti or worse.
Rolando Park Elementary is a large, beautiful campus. There are many positive features about our school: Located away from the hustle of busy streets; a small, caring staff; a new library built with Prop. MM money; a credentialed teacher in the library; free English classes for parents; a staff run before and after school program that provides extra tutoring and academic support; and an additional before and after school academic assistance program that will start in February to name a few.
