Neighbors,
Just wanted to let you know about our experience when we hired Lance's Landscaping to fill in the depression on our back yard (by the pool) with fill dirt, top soil and then seed it. Lance had performed other work in the neighborhood and his business had favorable reviews on Angie's List.
We were surprised to find out that the straw mat would need to be removed and that this removal was an additional charge; we decided to not pay the charge. Once the fact that the straw mats needed to be removed was communicated to us, the proper time to remove them was not communicated to us after numerous emails and phone messages.
Now we have mats that are completely intanged with the grass and nearly impossible to remove. The edges of the mats are visible and the nylon in the mats are fouling the blade mechanisms of lawn mowers. This is because the "straw" mats include nylon netting that does not appear to be biodegradable. There are ruts in the side yard from his equipment and we are very dissatisfied.
Many areas of the straw mat were double and even triple layers - and I tried to remove them carefully (in the heat) but gave up after 5 hours and only 1/6 done.
If you are considering hiring this company, please reconsider. Lance has poor follow through and poor business communications. If you want more information come and see yourself and speak to me or my husband John Klay.
Note that I used the Angie's List complaint resolution service with no results, so now Lance's Landscaping is in their Penalty Box.
