Accomplishments - Part 2

The board of directors is taking this opportunity to inform and communicate to the neighborhood of its accomplishments in the past year of reorganization. We have worked long diligent hours in a relentless pursuit to make this a better Homeowners Association. Starting in June 2000 the board of directors started a process of creating an infrastructure of financial and social responsibility. This was accomplished by changing the avenue of direction in the following ways.

The Association transferred the out of town savings account to a money market account to take advantage of larger interest rates and the convenience of a local bank. The financial audit from 1973 through 1999 found overpayments in the amount of $642.00 and the board pursued collection of these monies. The Association saved $2,400 in the years of 1999 & 2000 by having the board of directors do the yearly financial audit. This savings practice will continue.

The 2000-year board members saw the first ever budget used by members to navigate through financial planning in accruing for roofing, painting and repairs. In May 2001 the board passed a new amendment to the By-Laws to put a cap on the secretary-treasurer?’s wages. This will prevent the wages being voted up to unreasonable amounts.

In 1999 the lawn maintenance contract and bid form were totally rewritten to streamline and clarify the intent and detail of maintaining our landscape. Procedures were put in place to prevent legal ramifications if a contractor is terminated.

In the spring 2000 the Association created an award to be given quarterly to the best-landscaped yard in the neighborhood. The award is called ?“Yard of the Season?” and the winner announced via the newsletter. The award winner receives a check for $25, a yard award display sign, and recognition in the newsletter and Web page. The winter award is for the best lighting display.

In the spring of 2001 a request was issued via the newsletter for ideas for a logo for our community. The process of selection continues.
