All Class Alumni Reunion September 9 -11 was the CSU All Class Alumni Reunion Weekend. The event was entertaining and fun for everyone who attended. Family Night (Sept. 9)Was great fun for young and old and Stepper's Set (Sept.10) was jam-packed with fun for the young at heart. However the Annual Alumni Membership & Business breakfast/meeting was very informative. After the Welcome (Mike Owens), reports from committees (membership, award dinner, business) and remarks by Alderman M. Harris 8th Ward. CSU President Watson gave the group an "update". President Wayne Watson talked about reaching out to our community. “Just like running this system, nothing is for certain,” Watson says CSU has had more than its share of smudges on its reputation in recent years but he wants to take the institution forward.
It seems (I don't know for sure)Chicago State has been run by people who don’t have a clue about Roseland Heights, Chicago or, Illinois, and what it takes to lead what potentially could be a world-class university. Some one said, ”Watson is a visionary and courageous leader, someone who’s not afraid to push the envelope – even if that means alienating and angering some people along the way" I think they were right. Not all of Watson's changes have been greeted so well,“He believes that every child should have the opportunity to succeed. He thinks in order to graduate seniors need to write a paper, there should be a No BBBB campus dress code: No backs, butts. bellies or breasts should be out or seen on campus. Girls should pulled their shirts down and boys pull pants up. He allows Chicago police on campus, Chicago could not patrol or every come on campus until now! He also has State police patrol our community. The campus looks better... greener grass, less weeds. If you backed Watson or not I urge you to give him a fair shake.
