If you have been anywhere near a tv, radio, or the internet you have seen or heard coverage of the protest and riots in Baltimore, Maryland this week over the unjust death of Freddie Gray. Our world is changing. People have different access to the media because of social media. Viral videos have been able to show what has been happening in real time. Beatings and unfair treatment is the norm for blacks in America. Only 50 years ago we were given the full right to vote. We have always had a rocky relationship with our fairer skinned counterparts, but in 2015 where it is camera phones and ANYONE can become a cameraman, all sides of the fight are being shown. No longer are we only getting FOX and CNN's take on things we are getting to hear the peoples voice, the protesters who are on the front lines not only protesting but making sure things don't get out of control with politicians and ministers on the front line too. We are seeing black men stand up and be leaders in OUR communities. From gang members to civic leaders. For the first time all sides of the story are being shown and we are not afraid to show them. Watch out. |
