Back in the 1920's this area was farming land.
In the 1960's some of the land was sold off to become homes. Through out the 70's this area built up to what it has basically become now.
The roads remained unpaved for the majority of the neighborhood until the late 90's. When the county started bringing in municipal water and then started paving the roads. The road paving continues now and should be finished in December of 2008.
In 1994 neighbors formed a crime watch to respond to the concerns of the residents. The neighborhood has worked with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office, the Office of Community Revitalization and the Palm Beach County Commissioners. The results for the neighborhood have been wonderful. An exceptionally low crime rate, and vast improvements to the area.
The Royal Palm Estates Neighborhood Association is not an HOA. Any resident living in the area can participate. No one is going to tell what color your house can be painted or where you can park your pick up. This community comes with a strong sense of independence. We are not part of a city or town, we are simply part of the county.
The neighborhood is family friendly and has a local park for the children. This is still a neighborhood where a kid can be a kid.
