Good News & Congratulations....Due to the hard work and commitment of Jay Raj Narayan, a local community member and a great college student on Wednesday, October 11 the South East Neighborhood Association held its first meeting at Camellia Basic Elementary School. More than 13 community members attended including a delightful pre-schooler, 2 staff members from Councilmember Kevin McCarty?’s office, 1 member from the Fruitridge Manor Neighborhood Association, the principal from Camellia Basic Elementary School, and 1 staff person from the City of Sacramento Code Enforcement Department.
Acknowledgements: Special thanks Jay Raj Narayan for organizing the first meeting, special thanks to all the community members and supporters who attended and Patty Boyd, principal of Camellia Basic Elementary School for hosting the Association meeting.

Here are a few of the gifts, talents and resources that we have available to us: computer skills, cooking/culinary skills, bi-lingual skills, networking skills, youth development resources, event planning skills, a passion for education, a truck and driver, City of Sacramento resources, local historian (history and knowledge about the community); aircraft mechanic, the ability to share information through the school?’s newsletter and many community contacts.
Other Issues Discussed: Community members expressed concerned about the following issues:
1. Traffic Safety?—Speed Bumps
2. Code Enforcement Issues--illegal dumping
3. Youth violence and loitering-lack of activities for our youth
Next Association Meeting: Is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8
(Association Meetings will be held the 2nd Wednesday of the month) at 6:00pm at Camellia Basic Elementary School in the auditorium, 6600 Cougar Drive, Sacramento.
