This is just my opinion, but I don't think we need a dog park and don't believe it should come out of our HOA dues at all. Our HOA is all ready on the verge of Bankruptcy and in the red, we have a Management company that is doing a horrible job, a large number of houses are sitting empty and that is lost revenue. I have only lived in Castlegate since January of this year and had I known about all the problems that are going on here, I would have most likely purchased in another neighborhood. Looking at the situation from an outsiders point of view, would you want to buy a house in a neighborhood that is having problems financially, probably not. So I believe we should get our budget straightened out, let the economy recover a little and get some of the empty houses occupied before talking about spending money we really don't need to.

I'm not trying to stir the pot, or upset any one, but common sense needs to be used here.

That's just my opinion!

Have a wonderful day

All right - common sense prevails! Why spend money on a dog park??? Or a well????

It is nutts!

After looking at the financials it looks like they are starting to turn around things.

The well will save us money.  We spend a good $150K a year in water, it's only 37K for the well and water is then free.

Steenerson6 you did not go wrong with purchasing in Castlegate Community.  Yes there are money problems, management problems (not only managment company but also on our current HOA board).  Not all of the HOA Board members are bad.  There have been poor descisions made by both our Management company and our HOA Board, again not all HOA Board Members are bad, there has been several changes on the Board but hopefully there is some very positive ones to come.

The dog park is a great idea, however I do not feel it is something that is practical for our community.  Not only the expense of the fence but the upkeep.  I know all the pet owners are saying "oh I will pick up after my dog" but what will happen to the others that don't.  Do you want to live next to the dog park ? Barking at all hours, and in the summer the smell.  The community will then have to hire someone to come clean the park once a week, more expense.  I am not a dog hater, I own 2 myself, one of which was a rescue.

The well is only being looked into as a option, and of course the community will eventually decied if we proceed on drilling the well or not.  Expenses of our water is over $155k per year.  If the cost of the well and all the hookups would cost 40k, why would anyone not want a savings of close to 115k per year.

I am really hoping that you come to the next meeting, looks like a lot will be going on.  Hope to talk with you more at the meeting.
