I took one of my animals out, this morning, for a quick walk before work. There were THREE other dogs that were out of their homes and not on a leash. One was caught by it's owner, another was just roaming around Blakenship, and the third was with a lady who told me to shut up when I requested that she put him on a leash. Because she was so rude, I called the pound, Harris County Animal Control:(281) 999-3191, and let them know of our problem. Next time, I will catch the animal and have them come pick it up, since that is what I hear you have to do. My animals have been attacked before, while they were on a leash, and I have paid thousands of dollars in pet bills (not in this neighborhood, but it does not matter to me). Additionally, if I am bitten or my animals are attacked I will be bringing up the owner on charges. I know this sounds harsh, but this is really unacceptable. I am a homeowner in this neighborhood and I should be able to walk my dog without being afraid. I understand animals get out, so if yours do you should probably fix the problem. Sorry.

Also, I spoke to one of my neighbors who lives on Blakenship about it, this morning, on facebook. He told me he has stopped taking his animals out for walks because of the roaming dogs problem. I gave him the number and told him to let Animal Control know about it. I wouldn't want my dog to get picked up, but he has been a problem in the past and I spent the money and fixed it. Yes, it's not fun to have to do, but it IS the burden of pet ownership. Again, I apologize for being harsh, but I will not shut up, like I was told to. I'm not that person. I'm a good neighbor, keeping my area clean and free of pests, etc. I expect the same in return. I know I am not the only one, either. I have talked to some neighbors and they agree with me. |
